Meet Prince Gregor
When I bought Princess Sasha, I also bought Prince Gregor from the same seller. His outfit might seem a bit silly (though it coordinates well with Princess Sasha as you will see in my next post), but his haircut and blue eyes are adorable. Unfortunately I didn't warm up to his wig either, and he was sold on to a new home as well. He is also a limited edition, though far less rare since about 3000 were made in 1985.
I don't plan on buying any more wigged Sashas, though I may change my mind someday. I love my two re-roots though, and have already been discussing a potential third with Bettina.

Meet Princess Sasha
Like many Sasha collectors, I longed to own a rare Sasha Princess from 1986. She was intended to be a limited edition of 3500, but fewer than 400 were made before the factory in England closed. She has such a sweet look in all the pictures I've seen, with her distinctive blonde wig and brown eyes. I was thrilled when I found one for a reasonable price, complete with her box and certificate. When she arrived, I was surprised by how little attention I gave her. She and I just didn't connect -- a first for me with regard to Sashas. I finally concluded that it was her wig I didn't like (yes, that beautiful wig). I love wigged dolls in pictures, but apparently not so much in person. After months of contemplation I decided to sell her on for another collector to enjoy, but not before taking a few pictures.
Her outfit is elegant yet understated, and I love how all the pieces pull together. The pale pink and navy blue contrast nicely, and the hooded cloak and jeweled neck ribbon are perfect accessories for a princess.
I still think Sasha Princess looks sweet in pictures, but I also think I made the right decision for me when I sent her off to a new home.

Meet Yamka
It's been a while since I've posted about a Later Gotz doll. Yamka is the final addition to that portion of my collection (I know, famous last words). Like Ira, Yamka is a limited edition doll from 2001 with an outfit modeled after one of the old studio dolls (shown on page 100 of the book Sasha-Puppen). She was not easy to come by, due to both her limited edition status and the fact that she seems to be on many people's wish lists. I can understand why, as she has quite a unique look.

I believe she's the only doll with jewelry as part of her original outfit: she came with five beaded necklaces, and a bracelet spiraled around her right arm (which I've removed temporarily as it left green marks on her vinyl).

She came with a certificate denoting her limited edition status and number. In addition, she is marked on her torso with her number (268 of 500) and the year 2001.

Meet Marianne
Marianne is a limited edition doll from 1995. Unlike Ira, her body is not marked in any way. Her dress has a certificate attached saying she "... was dressed in a Limited Edition of 500 dolls for 1995 subscribers of 'Friends of Sasha'." Both the certificate and a tag sewn inside her dress are numbered 153 out of 500.

Marianne is a reproduction of an early Gotz Sasha wearing a teal cord dress. She had white shoes and socks originally, but lost them at some point in her past. Her red hair has long bangs/fringe and she has the same combination of blue eyes and no freckles as Kyra (though Marianne has eyelashes and Kyra doesn't).

Meet Ira
Ira is a limited edition doll from 2001, with an outfit modeled after one of the old studio dolls (shown on page 49 of the book Sasha-Puppen). I don't think pictures do her justice, as she's quite spectacular in person. Her dress is a beautiful ivory-colored silk brocade with pale blue trim, almost the same color blue as her eyes.

Her lace-trimmed pantaloons peek out from beneath the dress. She wears her hair in a thick braid/plait down her back with a pink and white tie and headband, held in place by a shiny black barrette. I love how it all coordinates without being matchy-matchy.

My camillias were blooming (at least I think that's what they are), so I posed her beside them for a little color. As I was taking pictures, a butterfly landed on the flower. This made for a nice photo-op, and I managed to snap a few more shots before the butterfly flew away.

She came with a certificate denoting her limited edition status and number. In addition, she is marked on her torso with her number (168 of 750) and the year 2001.

Meet Ruth
Ruth was purchased shortly after Anna, but arrived here first since she didn't have as far to travel. She was produced in 1999 in a limited edition of 400. My Ruth is #190, and labeled as such on her torso and accompanying certificate. All her tags are still attached in this picture, which makes her cute "traveling clothes" hard to see. Both of these pictures were taken by her seller.

She has lovely red hair, green eyes, and the most adorable freckles.
